Hello and welcome to TutorManila.com! Tutor Manila is a news, directory and classified ads website for educators, parents and students. Here are some things to do before you get started.
- Click on the burger menu on the top right, and sign in. If you haven’t registered yet, sign up first and confirm your email address.
- Add details on your personal profile that you want to share publicly (professional training, work experience, etc.).
- Just like Facebook marketplace, users can post classified ads of their goods and services for free. Click on add listing to make your services searchable or if you want to sell digital goods. All your ads will link back to your profile, and your profile will show all your listings. You can check out the listings tab and filter by category. Don’t forget to put your contact details in your profile so interested parents can contact you.
- Backlinks on classified ads are prohibited. If you want to add links, fill up the business listing request form or the tutor listing request form. We will verify your identity then create an exclusive page for you or your business and have you listed in our curated directory. This business page feature is a yearly subscription and can serve as a homepage for your business if you don’t want to manage your own website. Your account will gain the ‘Verified’ status which will automatically appear on all your posts. The verified checkmark gives assurance to members that they are dealing with legitimate businesses.
- You can boost a sponsor a specific ad of yours to appear on top of search results.
The website is free to use for everyone, and we will never take money from any of your transactions. We optionally only offer some premium features for those who want to do business easier.
The business directory, tutor directory and sponsored listings are the main revenue sources for Tutor Manila.
The Different Classified Ads Categories:
The classified ads on Tutor Manila work very similar to Facebook Marketplace and allows tutors, business owners, parents and students to post goods or services they want to sell.
Tutorial Services – tutorial services include in-office tutorials from brick and mortars, and house visits and online tutoring mostly from freelancers. Office tutorials are only allowed one post in their city, while those that offer house visits can post multiple ads but only one per service area (e.g. a tutor that can cover Quezon City and Marikina is allowed to post one ad per city so they appear in search for both.) Online can only be posted in their area once but end users can choose not to use geolocation when searching for online tutoring and your listing should appear in their search results.
Book stores and School Supplies – book stores and school supplies go hand in hand in most cases, and having listed businesses will help teachers parents and students locate these kinds of businesses in their area easier. For small business owners, this is an amazing way to make new customers.
Books – is the schoolyear over and you need to dispose old schoolbooks? Post your used books here. Do not spam the classified ads. Only one book post is allowed per user unless in special cases, but utilize adding different pictures for each book instead. This allows you to accumulate positive reviews and helps build your reputation in the long run.
Computer Rentals and Print Shops – this is a feature I’ve always wanted myself because I’ve never seen anyone actually do a directory or a database of location-based business locator for computer rentals and print shops where small businesses dominate. Now might be a good chance to these business owners to build their customer base by having online visibility.
Consulting services – this category is for those who offer consulting services for theses, but also appear almost nowhere online.
CPD providers – teachers are required by law (RA 10912) to undergo “Continuing Professional Development” or CPD for short. Teachers need to undergo training and CPD units are required for PRC license renewal, and so we will also list CPD providers here so teachers can easily locate them.
Digital products – teachers produce worksheets, spreadsheets and other printables that they should be able to sell to parents, students or other teachers and so we allow digital products to be sold here, but only those that they have the right to sell – no copyrighted material will be allowed in Tutor Manila.
E-learning courses, workshops and seminars – I personally believe that education is not limited to academics and so we also allow non-academic related courses, workshops and seminars be posted here. These include but are not limited to: professional skills development (e.g. public speaking, leadership, time management), entrepreneurial (e.g. food and beverage, agricultural), technical (e.g. IT, spreadsheets, graphic arts), and vocational (e.g. carpentry, DIY).
Office space, cafes and libraries – Students and teachers usually look for establishments that provide affordable rates that allow them to study or work. Coworking space, cafes and libraries are number one priorities here. We also plan on introducing the idea of community playdates: restaurants or establishments that will allow a space for kids to play and socialize while also providing activities for the parents, and so if you have a business that will accommodate these type of gatherings you can list your business here.
PC/Laptop parts and repair – both teachers and students nowadays require a PC or laptop to work or study. I want to add this here, but also want to add a community buying guide for parents on what specs they actually need or what PCs or laptops are worth their money. We should also have repair shops available in the off-chance that they have a problem with their computers at home. Some technicians are available remotely, some can do home visits, while some shops you need to bring the computer or laptop to them since they have a physical store.
Schools and Training Centers – practices that do not fall under academic tutorials fall under here. Parents and students may have specific needs such as playing musical instruments, singing, dancing, foreign language, or speech-language therapy are placed here.
