Static Shock episode titled “Jimmy” aired back in May 2002, pero it’s more relevant today than it was when it first aired.
If we watch the episode, we can tell that Jimmy was a bit different than most kids. But classmates and teachers who do nothing to protect children like him that suffer in silence can lead to unintended consequences. What’s worse is, at the end of the episode, Jimmy is the one who gets sent to juvy (juvenile delinquent program) while his bully walks away with pretty much just a slap on the wrist.
Science, educational psychology and our understanding of how minds work have advanced so much in the last 20 years, pero why is violence in schools in an all-time high? Despite having more technologies available at our fingertips and despite being the most connected we have ever been than at any point in human history, why are our children feeling more depressed, isolated and alone? Are we getting the outcomes we want from the systems we implement?
